While “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is finally released in our dark rooms, Jon Watts’ feature film, like any self-respecting Marvel film, offers two post-generic scenes to its audience. Focus on the second.
Spider-Man – No Way Home : what about Dr Strange?
Spider-Man: No Way Home brings back an astronomical amount of characters. On the one hand, there are the villains from the other two sagas Spiderman. Jamie Foxx in Electro, Alfred Molina in Dr Octopus or even Willem Dafoe in Green Goblin. Villains from other movies Spiderman, outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), gathered to show all the colors to Peter Parker played by Tom Holland.
But there is another side MCU character feedback. Tom Holland, obviously, who is reprising the role of Peter Parker for the sixth consecutive time, as well as Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei but also and especially Benedict Cumberbatch in the skin of Dr Strange. The latter, who had his own film in 2016, then appeared in the last two films. Avengers, in Thor: Ragnarok and so now in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And the second post-credits scene precisely concerns the mighty magician of the MCU.
The first images of Dr Strange 2
In reality, it’s not really a post-credits scene. Rather than offering a small scene as is usually the case, Marvel Studios preferred to swing the very first images of Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, expected on May 4 at the cinema. The spectators will therefore have the chance to attend the very first teaser of Sam Raimi’s film.
First images that announce very very heavy! As expected, the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home will have repercussions on the MCU, and more particularly on Dr Strange 2. The Sorcerer Supreme will have to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions, in a feature film that will rush even deeper into the multiverse. A post-credits sequence that allows the most observant to find well-known characters like Dr Strange (obviously), but also Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) and above all, The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) who is revealed in these first images. Dr Strange is obviously forced to go ask him for help to sort out the problems he caused in the previous film.
The connection with What If …?
The most impressive in these first images concerns an unexpected and very exciting connection to the animated series What If …?. Indeed, this little trailer confirms one of the main fan theories. Many of them (including us) have suggested that Dark Doctor Strange discussed in What If …? could soon appear in the MCU. Well we had seen it right! If this evil version of the Sorcerer Supreme does not appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, she will be well in Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Finally, it is in any case what visibly want us to believe Marvel Studios.
So, this little trailer is a good reminder that What If …? is a canon series, and that the events of it may have consequences for the rest of the MCU. Sam Raimi will therefore stage a crazy multiverse where Wanda, two versions of Dr Strange and many other characters will evolve. See you on May 4, 2022 to discover the work of the filmmaker, who promises to be grandiose! Waiting for, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been at the cinema since Wednesday, December 15, 2021 to discover this famous post-credits scene.
