The mystery movie directed by Sebastian Lelio will be released on Netflix.
Netflix has released the first trailer for Chilean director and screenwriter Sebastian Lelio’s movie “The Wonder,” based on Emma Donoghue’s gripping novel. The leading role of the film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, is played by Florence Pugh, the rising star of recent years.
“The Wonder” takes place in an Irish village in the 1860s. An English nurse (Florence Pugh) named Lib Wright is summoned to a small village to observe what some see as a medical anomaly and what others describe as a miracle. The person he will observe is an 11-year-old girl who lives in a hut and allegedly survived without food for a long time. A journalist who is aware of the girl takes action without wasting time to investigate the incident.
The script of the movie was written by Sebastian Lelio and “Succession”, “Normal People” by Alice Birch. The cast includes Florence Pugh, as well as Tom Burke, Niamh Algar, Elaine Cassidy, Toby Jones, Ciarán Hinds, Dermot Crowley, Brían F. O’Byrne and David Wilmot.
“The Wonder” hits Netflix on November 16!
