Played by Penn Badgley, con artist, killer and stalker Joe Goldberg is once again exploring new territory: After the mischievously charismatic protagonist of the hit series “You – You will love me” has been up to mischief in New York, Los Angeles and a Californian suburb, season 4 takes him to Europe.
In 2022, “You” fans had to be patient, because new episodes of the thriller series shone with their absence, as in 2020. However, the dry spell is gradually coming to an end: Netflix recently published a first preview of the fourth season, and the streaming service also revealed the start date – or rather the start dates. Then Season 4 of “You” will be released in two parts: The first batch will be published on February 10, 2023, followed by the second half of the season on March 10.
The fourth season of “You” makes a brief detour to Paris, but is primarily set in London. According to showrunner Sera Gamble, this is for two simple reasons: On the one hand, she wanted to put Joe Goldberg in an environment that was completely unfamiliar to him, in order to draw suspense from how the dangerous con artist handles this challenge. On the other hand, the reason is quite trivial: Gamble watched numerous international series on Netflix during the Corona quarantine – and therefore felt like letting “You” play outside the USA.
Joe pretends to be a professor in London – which has an impact on the series: Opposite the US portal Entertainment Tonight Penn Badgley therefore hinted that while the fourth season of “You” will largely retain the tone of previous seasons, it will nevertheless reinvent the series. “It’s almost like we’re changing genres a bit,” says the You star.
Like the first three seasons of the series that was once produced for the US broadcaster Lifetime and has been exclusively responsible for Netflix since Season 2, the fourth season will consist of ten episodes. Alongside Badgley, Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina veteran Tati Gabrielle returns as Marienne Bellamy. The rest of the central cast is made up of Lukas Gage (known from “Euphoria’), ‘Taskmaster’ contestant Charlotte Ritchie, Tilly Keeper (‘EastEnders’), Amy-Leigh Hickman and ‘Eragon’ star Ed Speleers together.
