Final Fantasy 16: on PS5 or nothing, the producer shatters your dreams

Final Fantasy 16 will soon be released on PS5, but what about its highly anticipated PC version? We have an answer.

Final Fantasy 16 will be released exclusively on PS5 later this year, but rumors have been swirling about the game’s release on PC for quite some time. It has indeed been said, since its announcement, that this FF16 would only be a temporary exclusivity. And if Xbox players will certainly not be entitled to it, since the game is one of the titles that Sony prevents from being published on Xbox according to Microsoft, nothing prevents it from coming out on PC a little later. We also remember that when it was formalized, the mention PC was visible on the very first trailer. An error that will be rectified a little later. Only here, the producer of the game does not hear it that way.

Final Fantasy 16 on PC: yes, no, maybe?

Asked about the subject during a stream in Japan, Naoki Yoshida, aka Yoshi-P, swept away all hopes regarding the release of Final Fantasy XVI on PC. At least for the moment.
While laughing, the man indeed declared that we should not think of another version of the game than the one which will be offered on PS5 next June.

Nobody has spoken about the release of a PC version. Why is everyone acting like a PC version is going to come out 6 months later? Don’t worry about that, buy a PS5! (laughs) Sorry, I went too far. We gave our all for this game, so I hope you are looking forward to it.

Yoshi-P therefore shatters all the hopes of fans who already imagined playing Final Fantasy 16 on PC. For the director, it’s on PS5 or nothing.
Anyway, for now. Because on the other hand, we also know that Sony is seeking at all costs to develop its network on PC and the manufacturer no longer hesitates to release its PlayStation exclusives, first party or not, on other platforms such as Steam or the Epic Game Store. God of War,Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, and precisely, Final Fantasy 7 Remake are examples. It therefore seems highly unlikely that Final Fantasy 16 won’t land there at some point. But if that’s the case, it certainly won’t be for another good year at least.

So for now, Final Fantasy 16 will remain a PS5 exclusive and the game will be released on June 22, 2023. As a reminder, FF16 will offer us a whole new epic where we will embody a single character, Clive Rosfield, who has gone to seek revenge in the four corners of a vast universe in the grip of war. A journey that promises to be particularly violent and epic, where we will notably come across several well-known deities of the franchise such as Ifrit, Shiva or even Odin.
