Fatma Girik and Cüneyt Arkın were commemorated in the talk “Being a Star in Cinema – Living Like a Film”, in which Selda Alkor, Halil Ergün, Şerif Gören and Burçak Evren were the speakers.

at the 29th International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival; Fatma Girik and Cüneyt Arkın, the master names of Turkish Cinema, whom we lost this year, were mentioned in the conversation where their friends were speakers. In the interview, moderated by journalist, writer and manager Bircan Usallı Silan, who works with two masters, the topics of “Being a Star in Cinema – Living Like a Film” were discussed.
Master actors Selda Alkor, Halil Ergün, director Şerif Gören, film critic and historian Burçak Evren took part as speakers at the event held at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality City Theater Hall.

Selda Alkor, about Fatma Girik, “Yeşilçam has created a lot of stars. I accept it as such. The artists who came out of Yeşilçam, which is actually an icon, are people who have established a throne in our hearts. Fatma Girik gave the best example of being a star. At the age of 15, she had no artistic background in cinema. Fatma, who entered without being without, eventually became the star that all of Turkey adores. Of course, she tried very hard for this. Fatma was an actress who played instinctively. She learned the technique of this job very well over time. And as a result, a good actress emerged. Today’s Turkish Cinema’ When we look at her, Fatma Girik is one of the best actresses for me. I think she is for everyone. I have never experienced what I went through with her with any of my artist friends. She was very moral even when she was sick. She was extremely friendly. It was as if she motivated us, not us. She’s just a good actress. , besides being a good person, she was a good friend. Even though we were not together every minute, I always loved Fatma. I call her from time to time. It comes to me, it is not forgotten. Like you, we do not forget both Cüneyt and Fatma, we will always keep her alive in the corner of our hearts.”

Selda Alkor, the actress who played the most leading roles with Cüneyt Arkın, said about Arkın: “We made very special films with Cüneyt. I still live the memory of those beautiful films we made with Cüneyt. I think Cüneyt was one of the most handsome men to come to Turkish Cinema. The whole world. “I think Cüneyt Arkın would have had a hundred Brad Pitts if he would run after Brad Pitt. I’m not saying they should rest in peace, they are already busy sleeping in our hearts,” he said.
Halil Ergün, who is a very close friend of Fatma Girik, said, “Fatma is someone who left deep traces in my life. It was a meeting that later turned into friendship and friendship. We shot two films. It was exciting. she was always almond-eyed… She was a person who loves people. So were her relationships on the sets and her relationship on the street. She was a street person. She was someone who could feel sad in the face of all people’s troubles. She was a direct woman. She was a woman openly. She expressed her thoughts and feelings openly. If there was, she would have put it openly. Beware, you see all this clarity in all her films and the characters she plays. It’s not an easy job, it’s not that easy, those acting. These people didn’t become stars for nothing. At the same time with their efforts, their hearts, their indecision, their recklessness. They always stood up. Fatma He never gave up on living, he never gave up on cinema, he never stopped getting excited. He had a human attitude that calmed us. May he rest in beauty, in lights. The artist’s effort is to leave a mark. Traces of artists, writers, directors and actors remain in society. They nailed the historical signature. Fatma is one of them, she nailed it. She has been one of the heroes of the country, she said.

Director Şerif Gören said, “I met Fatma Girik in the movie Rabia. She is always on the move, sincere, friendly, friend, and this identity has never changed until her last day. I always felt that sincerity and friendship when I shot her films. She gave a great support to people.” said, and Cüneyt Arkın said, “Cüneyt Arkın took on all identities in Turkish Cinema. He fell in love, became romantic, sang songs, played the piano, but then he played our national heroes, Kara Murat, Malkoçoğlu, Battal Gazi. But during the time he acted in those movies, he put so much effort into it. Those movies were not easy movies at all. Cüneyt Arkın is perhaps the best horse-riding player in Turkey. My first movie with Cüneyt Arkın was the movie Two Friends with Fikret Hakan in 1976. I first worked there. In that movie, I understood that Cüneyt Arkın was really a star. If the society starts to carry a person on their shoulders, if it reaches the level to carry the love in their heart, that person is really a star. Citizen Rıza Cüneyt always lives inside Arkın. Cüneyt Arkın was always in favor of peace and unity, with a socialist identity, a patriotic identity, a libertarian democrat identity. And I believe he carried it until the last day. Cinema history will write them down and these people will not forget them.”
Film historian and writer Burçak Evren touched upon the star identities of Fatma Girik and Cüneyt Arkın. Evren said, “It is impossible to tell people that everyone knows. It will be incomplete whatever we say. The most important fact on the way to stardom is that you will have a problem and a story. The stories of all Hollywood stars were written later. However, the stories of Fatma Girik and Cüneyt Arkın. It is written all over again. We watch Turkish movies and say that this much will not happen. Both Fatma Girik and Cüneyt Arkın lived as life. At the bottom of poverty… They set out on a long journey from there to stardom. Being a star is not as easy as it is said. It’s not enough to make movies for a lifetime, it’s not enough to make many movies. Only that light has to be noticed by someone. When you shoot Fatma Girik from Hamlet or Cüneyt Arkın from a cult movie like The Man Who Saved the World, you can’t put someone else in. Starlar, They do not collide with each other and they can give the same effect. Stars do not have masterpieces. The people who make the best movies are not stars. They have the most reflection in society. are people who are. When stars die, they take away something from our lives, our past, and our memories. We are lost with them. We cannot replace it, there will be a void. I am not saying that Fatma Girik and Cüneyt Arkın should sleep in light. Because they have always worked in lights throughout their lives. I think they’re in the lights again.”
Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who watched the interview with his wife Nuray Karalar and presented flowers to the speakers after the interview, said, “It is a great pleasure for us to have such valuable artists and important names among us at the 29th International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival. This year’s content is very rich. We live in a high-quality Golden Boll. The quality and richness of our festival will be better than the previous year. He expressed the value of art and the artist by saying, “You cannot be an artist. The face of the artist is bright. The artist is the person who takes the society forward, to the enlightenment and transforms it positively. Our lost artists Cüneyt Arkın and Fatma Girik have written their names in Turkish Cinema history with golden letters with their lives devoted to the art of cinema and their beautiful works.” . Soon I commemorate both of our artists who passed away and all of our lost artists with mercy and respect.” made statements.
