DC star Jason Momoa makes his debut in Fast 10, but other than that, there will be plenty of returnees. Among them is Charlize Theron as a cipher, as Momoa has now (unintentionally?) revealed.
The Fast & Furious franchise is slowly approaching the finish line. “Fast & Furious 10” will be the penultimate part of this extraordinary series, which started in 2001 as a straightforward racing actioner and has since become a gas-soaked Noise-Sopa opera, full of extreme car chases, family conflicts, and a large arsenal of characters. The cast continues to grow, as each new installment not only welcomes newcomers but also returnees: Among them is the brilliant villain Cipher, played by Charlize Theron, in “Furious 10”.
Cipher is back
Cyber terrorist Cipher appeared in Fast & Furious 8. Her manipulative methods include blackmail and she does not shy away from working toward nuclear war to achieve her goal (= world domination). She also pulled the strings in “Fast & Furious 9”. “Fast 10” newcomer Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”) revealed in an interview with the magazine ET that the Oscar winner will also be involved in the new film:
“I’m going to be shooting with some really cool people that I’ve never worked with – I’m going to be working with Charlize, I’m really looking forward to that. She is fantastic. Also, I’m going to visit some cool places.” So there we have it: Charlize Theron is set to direct her third Fast & Furious. It is questionable whether this information was already intended for the public, on the other hand, Theron’s return should not really surprise any fan of the series, as she is now an integral part of the arsenal of characters as an ice-cold manipulator.
In the interview Jason Momoa, who will swim back to Atlantis in Aquaman 2 on March 16, 2023, also dropped a few words about his character. He previously described her as a “flamboyant bad boy” – and now as “stubborn” and “misunderstood”.
Fast & Furious 10 hits theaters on May 18, 2023. Lead actor and producer Vin Diesel also welcome Daniela Melchior, who played Ratcatcher II in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, to the cast. In addition, Diesel tried to persuade his old colleague Dwayne Johnson, with whom he had clashed during the previous filming, to return. But at the end of 2021, Johnson rejected this plan with harsh words.
