After the release of the ninth installment in 2021, the last two “Fast and Furious” are currently in preparation. Very involved in the development of the story of the saga, Vin Diesel has posted a new message on this expected final. And this one should talk a lot since it could notably allude to a return of Paul Walker.
Fast & Furious: Vin Diesel’s enigmatic message on the finale
The end of the saga Fast & Furious approach. As a reminder, the last chapter could be split into two parts. Justin Lin, who will put them back in the box after having already directed five of the first films, had spoken on the subject several months ago. And after the release of the ninth feature film in 2021, these last two opuses are being prepared behind the scenes. The casting begins to take shape since we know that Dwayne Johnson will not return while Jason Momoa will play the next main villain and Daniela Melchior will also be part of the cast.
The main actors of the saga will of course also be back, including the essential Vin Diesel. A few weeks ago, the latter had revealed on his Instagram account that the franchise finale would take place partly in London, after the first stopover of Dominic Toretto and his acolytes in the English capital during the sixth film. And the actor just posted a new message about the end of Fast & Furious which should get people talking:
I am approaching the end of the first saga… what is Fast & Furious. (…) I can’t believe that Universal has committed to a two-part finale… Their support and faith in this mythology surprises me and makes me smile. In this mythology, angels arrive and will also give you a smile. I love you all… and I hope from the bottom of my heart to make you proud.
Is Paul Walker back for the end of the saga?
Vin Diesel’s message is therefore quite mysterious. First of all, the term “the first saga” that he uses to talk about Fast & Furious suggests that he has something else in mind for the future. It will probably be a while before we know what he means by that. The corn he may be referring to spin off regularly mentioned. But the actor also talks about the arrival of “angels” in the last two films. Gold, the interpreter of Dom in the franchise very often uses this term to speak of Paul Walker. We can not help but think of a return of the latter despite his disappearance in 2013.
This theory is supported by the fact that Justin Lin hinted twice in 2021 that Brian might return. First in April, then in June. As for how the character could make a return, the same technique as for some shots in the seventh film could be used. The two brothers of Paul Walker, associated with the teams responsible for the special effects, could thus help to bring Brian O’Conner back to life for the conclusion of the franchise launched in 2001. Caleb and Cody Walker had also said they were open to this idea in 2018. This possibility should in any case delight the fans.
We will have to wait until at least next year, if the tenth film is not postponed again, to find out if Brian will indeed make his big comeback. After seeing its release date recently shifted by about a month, Fast & Furious 10 is scheduled for May 17, 2023. The eleventh and final opus should then arrive in 2024but we do not yet know its exact release date.
