Breaking his silence, Smith expressed his deep regret.

It’s been four months since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards. Will Smith, who won the Best Actor Oscar on the same night, then resigned from the Academy and was banned from attending Oscar ceremonies for 10 years, broke his silence and made statements on the subject.
Smith shared an Instagram video describing his actions as “unacceptable” and apologizing once again. Smith, who read and answered the questions asked of him, was asked why he did not apologize to Chris Rock in his award speech. “Everything was very blurry at that point. I reached out to Chris and the message I got was that he was not ready to talk and would contact us when he was ready.” gave the answer.
He then shared a private message to Rock and said, “So I’m going to tell you Chris, I’m sorry. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.” said.
He also apologized to Chris Rock’s mother and the other nominees, saying, “It really breaks my heart to steal and blacken your moment. I can still see Questlove’s eyes, you know it happened at Questlove’s award. And you know… just saying ‘I’m sorry’ isn’t really enough.” made statements.
Chris Rock also spoke about the incident for the first time recently and said, “I’m not going to the hospital for a paper cut,” stating that it hurt to be slapped by Will Smith, but not the victim.
