“Euphoria” is the second most-watched drama on HBO since 2004, after “Game of Thrones”. The Zendaya-led drama broke another record, attracting 6.6 million viewers with its second season finale on Sunday. Season two episodes of “Euphoria” currently average 16.3 million viewers, according to HBO, the best performance for any season of an HBO series in the past 18 years outside of “Game of Thrones.”
To date, the viewership of the second season premiere is approaching 19 million viewers in the United States. “Euphoria” was once again a seventh consecutive week on HBO Max in the US, and the best show of the week in both Latin America and Europe. As reported on February 1, the average viewership per episode of “Euphoria” is up almost 100% from its first season after airing only the first four episodes of the second season. The series also set a new series record when it aired opposite Super Bowl LVI on February 13.
The series was also the most tweeted show of the decade so far in the US, with 34 million tweets on social media as well. The second season of “Euphoria” centers on 17-year-old Rue’s (Zendaya) life in the East Highland town where she must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction. Along with him, the intertwined lives of high school students are also included in the series.
