Isabelle Fuhrman takes over the role of Esther in the prequel Orphan: First Kill. The actress, now 24 years old, once again embodies the 9-year-old girl and without visual effects!
12 years separate these 2 photos of Isabelle Fuhrman. However, the actress, currently 24 years old, took over the role of the diabolical Esther who made her famous… in a little girl version.
Released in 2009, Esther, by Jaume Collet-Serra, told the story of a 9-year-old orphan adopted by an American couple. SPOILER WARNING – Very quickly, the mother (played by Vera Farmiga) discovered the hidden face of the little girl, who actually turned out to be a 33-year-old woman suffering from a rare hormonal disorder that stunted her growth.
Isabelle Fuhrman was 12 when the first film was released, and now, at 24, she’s reprising her role in a prequel titled Orphan: First Kill. Which means she will have to look even younger than in the 2009 feature film.
Nothing exceptional with recent technical advances in digital rejuvenation… Except that the actress has just revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that no digital special effects had been used.
I’m nine years old again and it doesn’t make sense.
The production used only make-up and forced perspective filming techniques. The actress was notably dubbed by a child for the wide shot scenes.
“I know how we did it. I know all the stuff and I’m completely overwhelmed, because somehow I’m nine again and it doesn’t make sense”she said.
And to add: “Jlove the challenge of being able to play a child because it’s never been done in film without special effects. (…) Resuming a role you played as a child as an adult seems impossible. Yet we did it and I think that’s what makes the movie work, because it’s hard to understand how I manage to look like a 9 year old. It’s really scary“.
The actress, also producer of the feature film, gives the reply to Julia Stiles in this prequel which should be released in our theaters this year.
