While she was showing season 6 of “Sam” on TF1, Barbara Cabrita announced that a sequel to “Escape”, rebroadcast this evening on W9, was currently in preparation.
W9 is rebroadcasting this Tuesday evening at 9:05 p.m. Escape, a two-part series created especially for the M6 group channel. In this harrowing camera, Vladimir (Lannick Gautry) is about to celebrate his 35th birthday in an escape game with his wife, Hélène (Barbara Cabrita), his two best friends Stéphane (David Mora) and Thomas (Johann Dionnet), and the latter’s companion, Céline (Astrid Roos).
But once inside the game, the group of friends realizes something is wrong. Each of the puzzles reveals a secret about their past and turns them against each other. If they don’t solve the escape game fast enough, it looks like their lives are in danger. One thing is certain: they are not there by chance.
If Escape was entitled to a closed-end, each of the friends leaving on their side, Jérôme Fouqueray, general manager of W9, had announced during its broadcast in February 2021 that the project of a sequel was on the table.
“If the success is there, we want to continue either with other episodes or with other long fictions”, he had confided to our colleagues from Entertainment TV. “W9 aims to be as generalist as possible, and premium fiction, excluding short series, is the missing thread.”
Initially offered on February 9, 2021, on W9, Escape had managed to bring together by less than 1.5 million viewers, thus placing 21st of the 25 best audiences of TNT that year.
We have to believe that this good performance convinced the channel to offer a new burst of episodes to Escape since Barbara Cabrita, questioned on the subject during the promotion of season 6 of Sam, confessed to TV 7 Days that she would soon turn in the sequel.
Will other actors from these first two episodes return alongside Barbara Cabrita? What will be the synopsis of this new season of Escape? For the moment, W9 has not yet communicated information on the filming which should probably begin in the coming months.
