Have you seen “Encanto” and can’t get “Let’s not talk about Bruno” out of your head? You’re probably not the only ones, because the song breaks records in the United States. And has already done better than “Liberated, delivered” from “The Snow Queen”.
It took him some time. But Encanto managed to beat The Snow Queen. Not at the box office, where Elsa keeps a hell of a head start on Mirabel (acquired in a period much more favorable to films in theaters), but on the musical level.
While the soundtrack had recently reached number one on the US album sales chart, the very prestigious Billboard 200, one of its songs came to stand out more than the others: “Let’s not talk about Bruno”, located right in the middle of Christmas Disney 2021 and centered on the mystery surrounding the heroine’s uncle.
Not content with having entered the ranking of the hundred best-selling singles across the Atlantic, the title rose up to fourth place, something Disney hadn’t done since “Air of wind” of Pocahontas, in 1995. “Let’s not talk about Bruno” thus defeats the phenomenon “Let It Go”, who had not managed to go beyond the fifth step.
Carried by social networks (TikTok in mind) which made it viral, the song also equals “Love shines under stars”, heard in The Lion King in 1994, and could continue to climb. But Disney’s record is still held by “This blue dream” Aladdin, the only title from a studio film to have reached pole position on Top Billboard.
With already more than 29 million streams and 8,000 downloads, the performance of “Let’s not talk about Bruno” is quite impressive. But it will not be able to convert into rewards, because Disney preferred to submit “Dos Orguitas” for the Oscars.
