On October 6, 2021, comedian Daniel Craig bid farewell to the character of James Bond in “Dying Can Wait”. Former 007 agent Pierce Brosnan has just given his opinion on the latest installment in the saga.
Dying can wait : a critical and commercial success
Daniel Craig was the face of James Bond ever since Casino Royale in 2006. Fifteen years and five films later, the British actor, now 54 years old, is back as Agent 007 for one last lap. In effect, Dying can wait marks the actor’s farewell to the emblematic character of Ian Fleming. The direction of the feature film is given to Cary Joji Fukunagaand the rest of the cast includes Léa Seydoux, Rami Malek, Ralph Fiennes and Lashana Lynch.
Even though Dying can wait divided opinions, the film was nonetheless an event not to be missed for all fans of the 007 license. It is therefore no surprise that the new adventure of the attractive British agent has brought in more than $774 million in box office receipts.
Pierce Brosnan’s opinion
Before Daniel Craig inherited James Bond’s two-piece suit, it was actor Pierce Brosnan who played Agent 007. He served Her Majesty for four films by GoldenEye in 1995 to die another day in 2002. A role he loved to play but left quite abruptly.
Recently, Pierce Brosnan gave his opinion on Dying can wait at the microphone of QG. If he sings the praises of Daniel Craig, he is not necessarily a fan of the film itself:
I saw the latest and I saw Skyfall. I love Skyfall. I’m not too sure about the last one. … Daniel always gives from his heart. Very brave, very strong. But…
It must be said that it is difficult to criticize the performance of Daniel Craig in itself. The actor managed to appropriate the role with force and veracity, and took the franchise to new horizons.
If the role of James Bond is behind him, Daniel Craig will soon return in the skin of another character that he has already interpreted in the past. That of detective Benoît Blancwho will have to solve a new case in Glass Onion: A History of Knives drawn the December 23 on Netflix.
As for Pierce Brosnan, fans of the DC universe will be able to find him in the skin of Dr. Fate in Black Adam next October 19.
