Joker and The Batman – 4K box
If there were two DC movies to remember from the past few years, it would probably be Joker (2019) and The Batman (2022). The first is centered on the famous antagonist while the second offers the superhero a new incarnation. Even if the two films are not connected, it is interesting to see that the two works have chosen to present early characters and in a style far removed from films of the genre.
Joker is a critique of society and a pessimistic view of a world that gives birth to such a monster (see our review). When The Batman looks more like a thriller that questions the legitimacy of a vigilante (our opinion). The two feature films therefore have points in common, so it is quite consistent to see them brought together by Warner in a 4K box, thus with the best possible image quality. All the more important for The Batman which hasa sublime photograph marked by the important work of Greig Fraser on black and contrast. A box found at €39.99 on the Fnac.
The Barefoot Countess – Ultra Collector Box
Carlotta has been offering Ultra Collector box sets of cinema classics for several years now. Superb limited editions for collectors and movie buffs. Thus, after among others Ariadne, The Devil’s Backbone or The Last Metroit is The Barefoot Countess which is to (re)discover with this beautiful object. Joseph L. Mankiewicz takes on Hollywood with this 1954 film worn by legends Ava Gardner and Humphrey Bogart.
In addition to the film on Blu-ray and DVD, the box contains several documentaries (including an interview with journalist Samuel Blumenfeld), and the usual booklet found in these editions of Carlotta. Here, 160 pages including 50 archive photos and look as long as the dust jacket. The box is available from November 22 on Carlotta’s website at 53€.
casablanca – 4K UHD box
casablanca is one of the most beautiful films in the history of cinema. Being able to (re)discover it in the best possible quality is therefore logically very appreciable. And Warner did just recently by releasing the 4K UHD box. The opportunity to relive this impossible love story between Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the middle of World War II. In the Mood for Love – 4K Collector’s Box
The Blu-ray + 4K Collector’s BoxIn the Mood for Love is not new, but we couldn’t resist recommending it to you. Because Wong Kar-wai’s film is a work apart, one of the monuments of the seventh art often cited among the most important. There too an impossible love story, between Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Maggie Cheung. visual beauty which we can enjoy in the 4K version.
But it is not only the image quality that is taken into account here. The box itself is a notable object with its flowered pocket, its three-part opening and above all the 190-page booklet which contains exclusive photos from the shooting of the film. All for 50€ on the website of The Jokers.
Top Gun 1 and 2 – 4K Collection Box
Top Gun: Maverick was one of the events of the year. The opportunity for Tom Cruise to show that he still had to be counted on in Hollywood and in action cinema. Beyond the visual quality of Joseph Kosinski’s film (its efficiency and its ability to immerse us in planes), the film says a lot about the actor who fights against time (see our full review). But perhaps the greatest tour de force is to have succeeded in bring together in theaters such a wide audiencegoing beyond the generational audience of the Top Gun from 1986.
Whether you have discovered this sequel in theaters or not, we can therefore only advise you to look into the very big box Top Gun – 2 movie collection found in particular in Potemkin Where Amazon. An impressive object that takes the form of a box containing both films in 4K and Blu-ray in SteelBook boxes and many goodies. Among other things, photos, coasters, crest magnets Top Gun or even Maverick’s leather key ring. All this for 139,99€. It is not given. But this is the price to delight collectors and fans of Top Gun.
