On the occasion of the birthday of her sidekick from “Dune” Timothée Chalamet, actress Rebecca Ferguson, who plays her mother in Denis Villeneuve’s film, shared an image from a scene cut from the feature film.
Dune: the SF success of 2021
Presented as a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last September, Dune by Denis Villeneuve has had great success in theaters. Released on September 15, 2021 in France, the film adapted from the work of Frank Herbert, has exceeded three million admissions on our soil. It’s about third biggest success of 2021, behind Spider-Man: No Way Home and To die can wait. Globally, the film raised nearly $ 400 million, for a budget of $ 175 million.
Dune follows the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a young man as gifted as he was brilliant, destined to meet an extraordinary destiny that totally surpasses him. Because if he wants to preserve the future of his family and his people, he will have to go to the most dangerous planet in the universe – the only one able to provide the most precious resource in the world, able to multiply the power of humanity.
He is helped in his quest by allies, starting with his mother, played by Rebecca Ferguson.
Rebecca Ferguson reveals cut scene
The dynamic of Denis Villeneuve’s film relies heavily on the duo formed by Ferguson and Chalamet. Indeed, this mother / son relationship gives the story a powerful emotional dimension. The story is that of Paul, but also that of his mother, who must let him stand on her own feet, despite the dangers that surround her.
On the occasion of Timothée Chalamet’s birthday, Rebecca Ferguson posted on her Instagram account an image taken from a scene cut from Dune :
It was a scene in which Lady Jessica was teaching her son the art of Bene Gesserit knife fighting.
It’s always weird when a scene you love isn’t in the final cut. I hope that one day you will be able to discover it (…)
said Rebecca Ferguson. Maybe this footage will be included in the bonuses of a future video edition?
