In a making-of video for “Dune”, Jason Momoa again slipped into the shoes of Khal Drogo by dedicating a battle scene to his Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones”. Check it out below.
Dune: the big sci-fi movie of 2021
While it will not be released on American screens until October 22, Dune by Denis Villeneuve is a hit in France. Indeed, the film exceeded one million admissions at the French box office a week after its release. He thus achieves the second best start of the year, behind Fast & Furious 9.
Adapted from the eponymous work of Frank Herbert, the film stages the rise of Paul Atréides (Timothée Chalamet) and his arrival on the planet Arrakis. This is the first part of a much bigger adventure, which Denis Villeneuve hopes to quickly pursue, if the success of the film is confirmed.
Alongside Timothée Chalamet, we find Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa. The latter encamps Duncan Idaho, the fencing master of House Atreides, who maintains a special relationship with Paul. In the film, he sacrifices himself by protecting him and his mother at the end of an epic combat sequence against the Sardaukers.
Jason Momoa gets back in the shoes of Khal Drogo
Before this sequence, another epic battle featured the character of Duncan, just after the surprise attack of the Harkonnen allied to the Sardaukar. In a making-of video by Dune shared by Jason Momoa himself, we discover that he dedicated this battle to a person dear to his heart: Khaleesi (from 1.32 in the video):
Indeed, just before starting to shoot, the actor declares:
I saw the final episode of Game of Thrones tonight. This battle is for you, Khaleesi.
In May 2019, Jason Momoa had reacted violently to the fate of Daenerys Targaryen. So we imagine that the scene was shot at that time. Indeed, he was carried away in front of his screen, and had hit several “f ***” intended for the writers of Game Of Thrones.
