The long-awaited news arrived in October: Dune by Denis Villeneuve will have a sequel. And we now know when its shooting will begin.
“This is just the beginning“, assured Chani (Zendaya) at the end of Dune, on the bill since September 15. A line that promised a sequel to the adventures of Paul Atréides (Timothée Chalamet) among the Fremen, even though a second episode n had not yet been ordered.
But fans of Denis Villeneuve’s film will not have had to wait too long before being reassured since Warner officially announced a few weeks ago that a Dune Part 2 would see the light of day. It is October 18, 2023 that the epic of Paul will continue on the big screen after the shootings which should begin next summer.
Present during a special screening of Dune followed by a question-and-answer session hosted by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, the journalist Josh Encinias of The Film Stage has indeed indicated on Twitter that the producer Mary Parent had announced there the start date of the shooting of the second episode: July 18, 2022.
In the meantime, Timothée Chalamet continues to box Wonka, the prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in which he plays the famous chocolatier, and Zendaya is about to start promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home, due in theaters on the 15th. December.
