Considered one of the greatest actresses in history, Meryl Streep is best known for her dramatic roles. But with Don’t Look Up, she once again proved that she could do everything and even improvise hilarious lines!
Who would’ve believed that ! Multi-Oscar winner Meryl Streep is (also) a comedic genius. On the set of Don’t Look Up: Cosmic Denial, available on Netflix since December 24, the actress entertained the whole team with improvisations, each more brilliant than the next during the scene where her character receives for the first time those of Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oval Office.
On Youtube, Netflix shared a behind-the-scenes video of the feature film in which director Adam Mckay expresses his admiration for the talent of Meryl Streep. The filmmaker explains that the interpreter of the President of the United States improvised throughout the film. But it was during the filming of one scene in particular that she left everyone speechless.
“Every take we did with Meryl, she improvised a different phone call. It was a kind of improvisational tour de force that I had never seen before“, assures Adam Mckay. And to continue:
Because I am not exaggerating! She must have made 20 to 25 completely different nonsensical phone calls.
The proof in the video above! Completely a fan of the work of his actress, the filmmaker specifies that even he who has done improv in the past could not have kept up such a pace. “She didn’t repeat any. It was breathtaking“, he concludes.
