Netflix has just shown a first glimpse of “Don’t Look Up”, a comedy against the backdrop of the end of the world with a crazy cast in which we find Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett or even Ariana Big.

Don’t Look Up : Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence on tour to save the world

No one is surprised to see big stars filming in productions intended for the small screen. The production ecosystem has been turned upside down with the arrival of platforms. We regularly see important personalities getting involved in projects driven by streaming services. Netflix is always happy to attract good names, to build credibility. Whether in front of or behind the camera, everything is done to collaborate with top names. The American firm already has some great takes in its catalog and it plans to release soon. Don’t Look up.

The new feature film directed by Adam McKay has an XXL cast as we rarely see. Headlining, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as two astronauts who are embarking on a world tour to educate governments about a dangerous asteroid that intends to approach our planet. If a collision happens, the end of our species will take place.

An astonishing proposition

Despite its postulate of disaster film, the tone is turned towards humor. In addition to the two main actors, we can also see in action Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Rob Morgan, Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet, Kid Cudi, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel and Frenchman Tomer Sisley. The film has a hell of a lot of potential to be a hit and even, more than that, to appear in a big event like the Oscars. The release must take place before the end of the year 2021, which makes it possible to be eligible for the next edition.

Netflix just launched the promotion with a first trailer. As said before, this disaster story definitely doesn’t look spectacular in this preview, as it is all about comedy. The luxury casting makes even more sense to exploit the talent of the actors through tasty exchanges. We obviously notice Leonardo DiCaprio who looks excellent. Which is not surprising since he has already proven that he knows how to be an excellent comedic asset.

Don’t look up is coming to Netflix on December 24th.
