After horror dolls like Annabelle and Chucky have been teaching us the creeps for years, Felix is now supposed to follow in their footsteps. Among other things, “The Walking Dead” star Jeffrey Dean Morgan gets to deal with the ventriloquist doll.
In “Felix” two friends dream of a great Hollywood career. Charlie and Jimmy want to make their first film for it – and when Charlie’s father finds an old ventriloquist doll in his mother’s estate, the two boys are over the moon. This finally seems perfect to cast as a terrifying antagonist in your film. But the feature film project will soon become reality because Felix has dark powers and dark plans…
“Felix” is produced by Joe Carnahan (“Boss Level”). John Kissack will direct. The makers themselves describe their project as “Super 8” meets “Chucky – The Killer Doll”. Two actors are already there: Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Charlie’s father. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth plays the role of his son, who dreams of a career in filmmaking. Horror fans might know this from the Netflix series Haunted Bly Manor.
Filming is slated to begin this spring. It is not yet known when “Felix” will be in the cinemas.
Incidentally, Joe Carnahan, who only worked here as a producer and is otherwise known more for action and horror films, has also announced his own directing project at the same time: In “Shadow Force” he casts Kerry Washington (“Django Unchained) and Omar Sy (“ Lupin”) in the scene. The two play a former couple who are now on the run with their son. Because her former employer wants to kill her.
Carnahan replaces the originally intended director Victoria Mahoney, who is now known to be making the Netflix sequel “The Old Guard 2”.
