The series “What If …? Is in its home stretch. Those who saw the penultimate episode of last Wednesday know what we’re going to talk about. Apparently, the movie “Doctor Strange 2” could be connected to the show, and more specifically to Ultron.
What If …? : short summary of last week’s episode
Released on Wednesday September 29, episode 8 of the series What If …? hit the fans like a cannon. The chapter in question presents an alternate story in which the mighty Ultron, introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, comes to win his fight against the Avengers. This demonic artificial intelligence then manages to seize Vision’s body, then 6 infinity stones, giving it immeasurable power.
The robot then decides to travel from planets to planets to destroy all life. Once his quest is reached, he then realizes that there is a multiverse and then attacks the Guardian. The absolutely gripping episode therefore suggests that this new Ultron is able to travel from universe to universe. Which implies that he is fully capable of joining the classic continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
A phenomenon which opens the way to many hypotheses of all kinds. One of them was already about Dr. Strange. Indeed, some fans believe that Dr. Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home is not the one we know, but the Dark Dr Strange presented in What If …?. Now it’s Ultron’s turn to bring some legitimacy to this theory. It is therefore quite possible that What If …? will have ramifications for the rest of the Marvel Universe.
Ultron in Dr Strange 2 ?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious MCU movies ever to be made. Directed by Sam Raimi, the feature film, which will obviously have some horrific influences, should logically explore the track of the multiverse. Even if nothing is known about the plot yet, there are many theories surrounding the project. Already, The Scarlet Witch and Loki will appear in the work. Then, it is very likely that Dr. Strange will have a lot to do to close the various doors to other multiverses and thus protect our reality.

Yes What If …? had consequences for the rest of the MCU, Dr Strange will logically cross Ultron’s road in Sam Raimi’s movie. Since the killer robot wanders from reality to reality, Dr. Strange will have to put an end to his crusade (at least if the Guardian does not succeed in the final episode of What If …?).
According to a recent report by The Direct, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will include Ultron sentries. These Ultron creations, already present in Avengers 2 and in What If …? are a continuation of the antagonist, and allow him to be absolutely everywhere at the same time. The report specifies that Strange will meet these sentries on his travels through the multiverse.. The Direct does not specify if Ultron prime will be himself in the film. Although at present there is absolutely no way to verify the veracity of this hypothesis, if it were to be verified nonetheless, it promises very, very heavy for the rest of the MCU. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected on March 23, 2022 in cinemas while the last episode of What If …? will be released this Wednesday, October 6 on Disney +:
