Unveiled at the generic end of “Spider-Man No Way Home”, the teaser for “Doctor Strange 2” can now be viewed online. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film will be released with us on May 4, 2022, and Benedict Cumberbatch will face it… himself.
These images, nearly three million spectators have already seen in France. Because the teaser of Doctor Strange 2 serves as the second post-credits scene of Spider-Man No Way Home. And follows on from Jon Watts’ film, since the Master of the Mystical Arts will have to face the consequences of his actions and the complicated spells he has cast to help Peter Parker. Even if it means turning the multiverse upside down.
Directed by Sam Raimi, who succeeded Scott Derrickson behind the camera, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on May 4, 2022 in our theaters, and will be the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For the occasion, Benedict Cumberbatch will find there some famous faces including those of Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong or Chiwetel Ejiofor, whose Mordo unveils here his new look, while the end of the previous opus showed that he had switched to the dark side.
He won’t be the only one because – and it is with this revelation that the teaser ends – Doctor Strange will be confronted … with himself. Or rather this evil and grayish version seen in an episode of the animated series What If…?, Transformed following his numerous attempts to go back in time to change the past.
Fortunately, the hero played by Benedict Cumberbatch will be able to count on a powerful ally: Wanda Maximoff, alias Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), whom he calls on here to repair the damage he has caused in the multiverse.
While the teaser still promises us some stunning sequences, it also allows us to briefly glimpse the character of America Chavez, the newcomer played by Xochitl Gomez. And the immortal, sprawling villain Shuma-Gorath, who too should cause the hero some trouble. For the rest, go to a longer trailer. Or May 4.
