Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness : a much more violent opus
Six years after the release of the first opus, Sam Raimi succeeds Scott Derrickson to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Still carried by Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams, this sequel took the famous wizard on an exciting adventure through several universes. A new tale in which the former Sorcerer Supreme is tasked with put an end to the actions of the scarlet witch (still camped by Elizabeth Olsen).

With over $947 million in revenue, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a hit at the box office. The film particularly attracted the public thanks to its violent, dark, gory and sometimes even horrifying approach, completely new in the MCU. Sam Raimi therefore had fun with Dr. Strange and gave MCU aficionados the most singular film in many years.
An ultra-violent sequence cut during editing
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just released on Disney+ in the United States. The opportunity for Marvel Studios to resume the promotion of the film a little. Recently, the Sam Raimi Updates Twitter account revealed the details of a deleted scene from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness quite mind blowing. The sequence in question concerns Mordo, the character played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Stephen Strange crosses paths with Mordo. But it’s not the one from his own universe, earth 616. No, the magician meets another Mordo, that of Earth 838, member of the Illuminati.
But then, what became of the Mordo of Earth 616, the planet set in classic MCU continuity? At the end of the first movie, Mordo learns a technique to steal his opponents’ magic. He then goes in search of maximum power. Logically, we should have found it at hunt down magicians to steal their powers.

But Marvel Studios preferred to leave this intrigue aside for the moment. However, in another version of the script of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Mordo was to cross paths with the Scarlet Witchpresumably to steal his magic.
Obviously, Mordo would then have underestimated Wanda Maximoff. The latter, much more powerful than Mordo, would have completely crushed him, in the same way that it exterminates the Illuminati. The Sam Raimi Updates Twitter account reports that a deleted scene from the Sam Raimi film featured the Scarlet Witch delivering Mordo’s head to the Doctor Strange. An ultra-violent sequence, in line with what the character already offers in this 28th MCU movie. However, Marvel Studios preferred to change their minds and cut this scene during editing. Too bad, it would have allowed to put an end to the intrigue of Mordo, and to easily install the Scarlet Witch as one of the worst antagonists in MCU history…
