As always with MCU films, the first trailer for “Doctor Strange 2 in the Multiverse of Madness” has fans tossing around theories about the film’s plot. And one of the film’s producers just confirmed that one of them was accurate. Please note that this article contains spoilers!
Doctor Strange 2 is soon to return in a second solo film
In 2016, Doctor Strange introduces the eponymous hero to the big screen for the first time. The feature film tells the origin of the powers of the main protagonist. First a brilliant surgeon, Stephen Strange sees his world crumble following a terrible car accident. In order to regain the use of his whole body, he undertakes a journey that makes him discover a mystical world, with multiple realities. And changes it forever.
Since that first appearance in the MCU, Doctor Strange has appeared in four House of Ideas films. And we will soon be able to discover the fifth. Indeed, we will see again the hero embodied by Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As usual, Marvel fans tossed around several theories about the movie’s plot after the release of the first trailer. And one of the producers of the feature film has just revealed that one of these theories is correct.
No marriage with Christine for Stephen
In the first trailer of Doctor Strange 2, a scene made the fans react. We see Christine Palmer the character played by Rachel McAdams, about to get married. And the hero played by Benedict Cumberbatch is briefly shown watching her walk into the church at this moment. We could then think that the two characters had found each other and that they would marry in the new film. But fans have since theorized that Christine was getting ready to marry someone else.
And during an interview with D23Magazine, Charlie Palmer, producer of Doctor Strange 2 confirmed it. He revealed that the two characters “unfortunately did not get back together. » Before explaining why:
As seen at the end of the first Doctor Strange, he chooses to stay in Sanctuary, which means he can’t fulfill his personal desires. He would have liked to stay with Christine at the end of the film, but he chose the difficult option. He said “No. I’m going to be a superhero and defend our reality. I have to move on”.
The hero will have to accept the consequences of his choices
Palmer then followed up with some revelations about Doctor Strange 2. And these explain why the character played by Rachel McAdams is Back in the feature film: ” The film shows how the hero copes with the consequences of the decisions he has made. He may regret the way it ended with Christine; he still has feelings for her. »
In addition to seeing him face a new enemy, we will therefore be entitled to a Doctor Strange plagued by doubts about his personal choices in Sam Raimi’s film. The feature film should therefore have several challenges. And as a reminder, it will also count in its ranks Wanda Maximoff. It will be necessary to wait about two and a half months before being able to discover the result, since the new film from Marvel Studios will be released on May 4.
