“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” contains many “easter eggs”. An audio commentary has just confirmed a new one which directly concerns Doctor Doom, famous enemy of the Fantastic Four.
A horrifying Doctor Strange 2
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was marked by the return of Sam Raimi to directing a Marvel superhero production. The filmmaker had directed the first trilogy Spiderman. We were therefore delighted to see him bring a little of his madness to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A darker than usual semi-horror attempt emerges.
Remember that the story features Stephen Strange and America Chavez catapulted into another universe. The opportunity for the duo to meet different versions of well-known characters from the MCU. In particular another Karl Mordo, another Christine Palmer, as well as different incarnations of Captain Marvel and Captain America (became Captain Carter). Comic book fans also saw Charles Xavier and Mr. Fantastic appear for the first time in the MCU. But in the lot, it is probably Wanda’s intervention that will have marked the spirits the most.



A nod to Doom
As in all Marvel productions, Doctor Strange 2 is not stingy with nods to other works. Of the easter eggs that you were listed in our article here. Nevertheless, some elements had inevitably escaped us. Fortunately, we can count on the release of the film on VOD in the United States to discover new things. Thus, thanks to an audio commentary relayed by The Directwe learn that the film contains a reference to Doctor Doom (Doctor Doom in VO), the famous antagonist of Marvel comics who faces, among others, the Fantastic Four.
This wink is found when Strange meets the Illuminati. Every superhero makes an appearance. For his part, Reed Richards, alias Mr Fantastic, enters the scene by teleporting thanks to a kind of blue platform. This is none other thana device belonging to Doctor Doomconfirms producer Richie Palmer:
The teleportation device he uses to enter the scene is something we got from the comics, it’s Doctor Doom’s time platform.
In the comics, this device is of real importance since it allows Doom to time travel Many times. In the film, it is only a easter eggs no real influence on the story. We could nevertheless find this element in the future of the MCU. A movie Fantastic Four is in preparation. Not being planned for phase IV, we should not not be able to find out before 2024. Enough to give the screenwriters time to find a use for Doom’s temporal platform.
