Did Spider-Man: No Way Home inspire Doctor Strange 2? This is what is whispered in Hollywood now … Cameos would have been added at the last moment following Marvel’s infatuation with the possibilities offered by the multiverse.
Last November, we learned that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would go back to filming for six weeks. More than creative logistical factors were then mentioned to explain these long reshoots. But the Hollywood Reporter now offers a new explanation, related in particular to Spider-Man: No Way Home which is currently a hit around the world.
In its newsletter, the American media assures that the shots are about to end and that they would actually have been caused by the new feature film dedicated to Peter Parker, but also the Loki series. Two works which have in common to deal with the multiverse.
According to a source from The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel would have loved bringing back actors from other universes for No Way Home as well as having different versions of Loki in the Disney + series, which would have prompted the producers to decide to “have even more fun with the multiverse”. And the result would be the addition of new cameos!
Rumors cited by Collider speak in particular of an appearance of Bruce Campbell, frequent collaborator of the director of Doctor Strange 2, Sam Raimi. He could play a variant of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal in Far From Home) or even his favorite character, Ash from the Evil Dead franchise.
OTHER CHARACTERS REVEALED?
In addition to cameos from MCU heroes or famous actors, the second adventure of the Supreme Sorcerer Supreme could feature several characters never before seen on screen. Images of toys a priori derived from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have indeed been shared on Instagram, revealing new allies and enemies of the superhero played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
On these images, we can see the looks of America Chavez alias Miss America played by Xochitl Gomez, Wong (Benedict Wong) and Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) as well as several versions of Doctor Strange but also characters who had not been talked about. ‘them so far.
According to these photos, the alien Sleepwalker and the magician minotaur Rintrah could well end up in the film. Contrary to what their appearance suggests, these characters are allies of Strange in the comics. Very powerful, they both come from parallel dimensions.
Another character could also point the tip of his nose if these images are to be believed, a villain this time: the demon D’Spayre, the paper version of which was created by the Host of Darkness, seen recently in Shang- Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Coincidence?
To be sure, you will have to wait until the release of Doctor Strange 2 scheduled for May 4, 2022. And if you want to preview the first images of the feature film, go to theaters since the second post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home is dedicated to him.
