We take a look at the next upcoming releases. In 2022, there will be many superheroes, important French films or two mythical figures of horror cinema. Please note, the dates are subject to change and films may be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
French films of 2022
We are lucky to have a rich and varied cinema in France. The year 2022 will once again prove it to us with a number of films in all genres and directed by seasoned authors or new heads. All carried by talented performers, as proven by Waiting for Bojangles (January 5) with Virginie Efira and Romain Duris, Goliath (March 9) with Gilles Lellouche, Pierre Niney and Emmanuelle Bercot, or even Investigation into a state scandal (February 9) with Pio Marmaï, Valeria Bruni ‑ Tedeschi, Vincent Lindon, and Roschdy Zem.
As for the filmmakers, Jean-Jacques Annaud will return to the terrible fire of April 15, 2019 with Notre-Dame is burning (March 16), while Christophe Barratier will adapt The Time of Secrets (March 23) according to Marcel Pagnol. We will also have a new film by Cédric Klapisch with In body (March 30), a new Stéphane Brizé with Another world (February 16), again with Vincent Lindon, while Patrice Leconte tackles Maigret (April 6) with Gérard Depardieu in the title role.
Finally, after the success of North Bac, Cédric Jimenez will come back to him on the attacks of November 13 with November (October 5). A delicate subject whose treatment will be carefully observed. And with a little luck, we could perhaps also have François Ozon’s new film this year, Peter von Kant.
Thrillers and horror films
It’s not just Halloween that we like to have a few chills. And that’s good, because throughout the year we can find horror films and disturbing thrillers. We start with Scream (January 12), the fifth installment of the famous franchise which sees the return of mythical characters played by Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette. Ghostface is back and is now targeting teenagers. Why ? You will have to see the film to find out …
In addition to Scream, another great franchise will be highlighted again with Halloween Ends (October 19). The last opus of the new trilogy directed by David Gordon Green, the feature film should offer the long-awaited conclusion between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers …
Also coming out this year Black Phone (June 22) by Scott Derrickson, Nope (July 20) by Jordan Peele or even Nightmare alley (January 19) by Guillermo del Toro. We specify that the latter is not a horror film, but rather a disturbing film noir. And there will also be Olivia Wilde’s thriller Don’t Worry Darling (October 5) with Florence Pugh, Harry Styles and Gemma Chan.
Always more superheroes
Superheroes will once again be ubiquitous in theaters in 2022. And like almost every year, DC and Marvel will fight a titanic fight to try to dominate the box office. At DC, if there’s one movie you shouldn’t miss, it’s The batman (March 2). Even if the Dark Knight is not his first film adaptation, this new proposal signed Matt Reeves promises to be impressive. A dark and violent film with Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne in the early years of his vigilante career.
At Marvel now, it’s hard to put a movie above between Doctor Strange in the multiverse of Madness (May 4), Thor: Love and Thunder (July 13) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 9). Possibly, it is perhaps the latter that could interest fans the most since the film will inevitably be marked by the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, the interpreter of Black Panther in the first film, and who died on August 28, 2020 from the sequels. of a cancer.

Finally, superheroes Black Adam, Flash, and Morbius, as well as Spider-Man in an animated version, will also be in theaters this year. We will tell you more in our article dedicated to the superheroes of 2022.
Action in your eyes
If you like explosions and the big show, 2022 should be your thing since Michael Bay will be there! The director of transformers (among others) count us in the same eyes with Ambulance (March 30), a heist story that goes wrong and turns into a chase with Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II at the wheel, and Eiza Gonzalez as hostages.
For even more destruction, Roland Emmerich will also be back with Moonfall (February 9). The director accustomed to big disasters will this time tackle …
