The shooting of “Diane de Poitiers”, the next historic mini-series of France 2 with Isabelle Adjani, has just started. It will follow the fate of the favorite of King Henry II.
After having proposed a mini-series on General De Gaulle in 2020, it is the turn of Diane de Poitiers, one of the favorites of King Henry II, to have her historical fiction. Announced for 2021, production has unfortunately taken a little delay, since filming has just started in Hauts-de-France and in the Center-Val de Loire region.
The pitch: Won’t the marriage of Henri to Catherine de Medici definitively compromise the dreams of Diane who does not hesitate to compare herself to the goddess Artémis? Can the great Nostradamus himself predict Diana’s future?
Can a simple courtesan escape the suspicions of the Inquisition, which relentlessly hunts down Protestants and witches? Almost queen… More than queen… Diane de Poitiers is a formidable flamboyant, an icon of fashion and the powerful, a free woman.
To play the enigmatic countess, Josée Dayan, the director who has notably worked on Les Rois maudits and Le Comte de Monte-Cristo, called on Isabelle Adjani, who, in addition to appearances in Capitaine Marleau and Dix pour cent, gets here her first big role on television.
As for supporting roles, Nicolas Duvauchelle will have the heavy task of slipping into the skin of Henri II while Samuel Labarthe (La Forêt) will play François 1er. Virginie Ledoyen will be Anne de Isseleu and Marguerite de Navarre will be played by Jeanne Balibar.
Joeystarr, Gérard Depardieu and Guillaume Gallienne will also be in the game, playing respectively the Count of Kervannes, Nostradamus and Ambroise Paré.
Finally, Gaia Girace (Catherine de Medicis), Olivier Bonnaud (Gabriel de Montgommery), Jacques Spiesser (Philibert de L’Orme), Olivier Gourmet (Charles Quint), Jean-François Balmer (Inquisitor Mathieu Ory), and Michel Fau (Gabriel Antoine Le Camus) complete the cast.
Composed of 2 episodes of 90 minutes, Diane de Poitiers was written by Didier Decoin and produced by PassionFilms. Dominique Borg and Stéphane Couvebonnaire are in charge of the costume creation
