Diablo 4 close to Zelda Breath of the Wild? The studio responds

Still scheduled for 2023, Diablo 4 should offer an open world but it is not comparable to Zelda Breath of the Wild according to a developer.

When we wait for a game we often want to compare it to another to get an idea. For Diablo 4it seems useless to want to compare its open world with that of Zelda Breath of Wild according to Rod Ferguson, franchise manager.

Diablo 4 has a much different open world than Breath of the Wild

It’s via a Q&A video with IGN that we were able to hear the news:

One of the concerns with putting “open world” in a big neon sign and flashing it is that people have this notion of Breath of the Wild, “oh it’s completely organic and I can go anywhere where and do anything”. It’s not really our story… Our story allows for non-linearity, but there is a story – we wanted to have a beginning, a middle and an end.”

In the same spirit, the man provides some details on the quests, a fundamental element of any self-respecting Diablo game:

You can actually not continue the story for a while, which is the nice thing about the open world. Lots of side quests, lots of things you can do that aren’t on the golden path.

According to recent rumors, Blizzard is currently carrying out testing phases on the endgame of Diablo 4. We are therefore clearly on a development that is moving in the right direction. For the moment there is no release date except a wave 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
