Season 9 of Dexter, titled New Blood, is fast approaching and the impatience is growing more and more as Showtime distributes photos or videos here and there. And this new trailer puts Dexter on the spot …
That’s it. Showtime has finally released the official trailer for Dexter: New Blood which marks the return of the cult series starring Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter. It provides real clues as to what to expect from this new season.
For starters, Dexter Morgan clearly failed to get rid of his Dark Passenger. This is underscored by Iggy Pop’s use of the song “The Passenger” in a fairly ironic way at the start of the trailer. But the record begins to derail …
“Monsters walk among us“Dexter said in a voiceover, after seeing that a serial killer – one of those Dexter has always chosen as the victim – is rampant in his new territory in upstate New York.”I may still be a monster, but I am an evolving monster.“
It’s my life. A wolf among the sheep.
And just to remove any doubt about what has become of Dexter Morgan – who now calls himself Jim Lindsay – we see “Dex” sharpen a butcher’s cleaver and we hear his sister Debra slipping in his ear: “You can’t wait to kill again… Haven’t you learned anything?“
This new ten-episode salute takes place 10 years after Dexter disappeared in the eye of Hurricane Laura. He now lives under an assumed name in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York. While he is building a new life, unexpected events will resurface his Dark Passenger.
The trailer ends with a brief glimpse of Harrison, Dexter’s son, played by Jack Alcott. The series is expected from November 7 on Showtime and no French broadcaster is known to date.
