While waiting for an official release date for Death Stranding 2, Kojima-san shares some confidences about the game. More specifically about the actors and actresses who bring it to life.
An actress from Game of Thrones in Death Stranding 2?
As with the first game, death stranding 2 will benefit from an ultra solid cast. We could already see Norman Reedus (Sam Porter Bridges) and Léa Seydoux (Fragile) in the announcement trailer, but other heads are confirmed like Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna. A very feminine selection that could have welcomed another now familiar face from cinema and the small screen: Jessica Henwick. Nymeria Sand actress in Game of Thrones or even Bugs in Matrix 4 Resurrections.
So said Hideo Kojima during his Brain Structure podcast with Geoff Keighley.
Actually, you know, I’ve always been a fan of Jessica. And until the end, I considered a role for her in DS2 but I couldn’t meet her.
A calendar problem? The young woman is currently starring in the very good film Glass Onion: A story at loggerheads by Rian Johnson on Netflix, so maybe filming prevented that meeting. She has already had video game experience with the game Dreamfall Chapters.
women are taking power
In case the various teasers were not evocative enough, Hideo Kojima also said that the female roles will be important and in particular that of Léa Seydoux. For once, the first trailer for Death Stranding 2 was quite clear at this level.
I can’t say too much right now, but Fragile will be important. Players should also look forward to the roles that Elle and Shioli will play. They’re going to be blown away by the crazy things we’ve done. It’s something no one has ever seen before.
Is this one of the reasons why DS2 is so much more than just a sequel? What place for these actresses? Below is a brief theory that spoils Death Stranding Director’s Cut.
In the scripted missions of this PS5 version, Hideo Kojima highlights the concept of surrogate mothers of BBs (Bridge Baby) with a focus on Fragile’s mother who wanted to save these women. So, we say to ourselves that one of the elements of the DS2 scenario could be linked to that, even more so when we think of this female cast.
