The Hollywood Reporter has published a touching tribute letter to Sidney Poitier written by Jonathan Majors, known for his role in Lovecraft Country or the Marvel series Loki.
The death of Sidney Poitier upset Hollywood, and a week after the death of the actor, actor Jonathan Majors paid tribute to him. In an open letter to Hollywood Reporter, Majors, seen in Lovecraft Country and the Marvel series Loki salutes how Poitier’s career marked his debut in the trade.
After pointing out that from a young age, Majors identified with the turbulent children of the Angels with clenched fists and that the character of Poitier had helped him to find respect and dignity, he confides that the film’s line “Tenacity is a quality of the mind, like courage, honesty and ambition” accompanied her throughout her journey.

Another striking line for Majors, the one taken from Devine who comes to dinner …: “You don’t know who I am. You don’t know how I feel, what I think. And if I tried to explain it to you, you would never understand, even if you spent your life in it.” Majors also confides that he had a photo of Poitier in his comedy student room, in front of which he cried without knowing if he would one day be able to break through.
But Poitier’s impact does not stop at the sole case of Majors and his career, as the actor points out in the rest of his letter:
“What you have accomplished for me as a Black actor, as well as for other marginalized artists, is monumental. Your talent, your bravery, your elegance and your solidity have paved the road that many of my heroes have walked, as well as my own generation. Thank you, we thank you. How you managed to endure the isolation, all the naysayers, the hateful people, we will never know. “

“You have forced the entire industry and the world to change their hearts, to overcome their fears, to overcome bigotry and the box office, and in so doing, uplift the stories and lives of black America, of the marginalized. , ignored. And you did it all with grace, passion, fire, charm and style. For that, we love you. And for all that you have built, for all that you have taught us, we say thank you . Bravo, Mr Poitier. Bravo. You can count on us “.
