In order to pay tribute to Gaspard Ulliel, who died on Wednesday January 19 at the age of 37, the channels will upset their programs in the coming days by offering some cult films by the deceased actor.
Gaspard Ulliel died on Wednesday January 20 at the age of 37 following a tragic skiing accident. Rising star of French cinema, he made a name for himself in 2002 thanks to his role in the choral comedy Embrace who you want by Michel Blanc. He then had a string of projects, notably in Les Egarés, Jacquou le croquant, Hannibal or Saint Laurent.
In order to pay homage to the actor crowned with two César (Best hope and Best actor for A long Sunday of engagement of Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Just the end of the world of Xavier Dolan), certain French television channels turned their programming upside down in order to to offer some notable films from the career of Gaspard Ulliel.
A long engagement Sunday replaces What binds us
This Thursday evening at 9:10 p.m. instead of What binds us by Cédric Klapisch, France 3 will offer A long engagement Sunday, a film which allowed Gaspard Ulliel to win his first César and in which he plays Manech, the fiancé of ‘Audrey Tautou.
The France 2 tribute will take place this Sunday, January 23 at 9:10 p.m. with the broadcast of Sibyl, which marks the last appearance to date of the actor in cinemas. This film, directed by Justine Triet, allowed Gaspard Ulliel to give the reply to Virginie Efira and Adèle Exarchopoulos. La Deux therefore deprograms Black River with Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris and Sandrine Kiberlain, which was originally scheduled for this Sunday evening.
A collection of movies
As for the pay channels, the Canal+ group, which has often collaborated with the actor, will offer in the coming days on its thematic channel Ciné+ a collection of films among which you will be able to find Saint-Laurent, Les égarés and Jacquou le croquant. The channel clarified via a tweet that other titles will complete this list which is also available on the MyCANAL platform.
