We finally know who will direct “Deadpool 3”. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has indeed chosen the director of the next adventure of Ryan Reynolds in the skin of Wade Wilson. A filmmaker who has already worked twice with the actor.
Deadpool 3: the project is finally moving forward
Initially, the first two “Dead Pool” were rooted in the world of X-Men. A license that belonged to the 20th Century Fox. But since the purchase of this huge studio by Disney, the X-Men like Deadpool are back under the Marvel Studios crest. So far, it’s unclear exactly what the firm has in store for all these characters. X-Men. So far, Evan Peters has appeared as a fake Quicksilver in the series. Wanda Vision and Patrick Stewart are set to make a comeback as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
But long-term, no one knows yet how all of the X-Men will fit into the MCU, and if the original cast will return. Logically, there are more chances for new actors to take over these iconic characters, as will be the case through the future film Fantastic Four.
The only one who seems safe from rebooting and recasting is Deadpool. It has now been several months since Disney confirmed that Deadpool 3 will soon be produced and attached to the MCU. We also know that Ryan Reynolds will not be replaced and will take over the role of Wade Wilson for the fourth time (if we count X-Men Origins: Wolverine). We have recently learned that Shawn Levy was hired to direct this Deadpool 3.
The association between Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy continues
In 2016, Tim Miller directs the first installment of the saga Dead Pool. Two years later, David Leitch took over and directed Deadpool 2. Two films very close to each other have seduced fans of the mercenary in red tights. At the box office, the two works earned more than $1.5 billion in revenue. A success that proves the success of the formula Dead Pool: a lot of valves, a lot of second degrees, and a lot of blood.
For this third part, Marvel Studios has therefore set its sights on Shawn Levy. This 53-year-old Canadian director is a blockbuster regular since it is to him that we owe films like the saga Night at the Museum and RealSteel. It’s also a regular in comedies with notably crazy night and The Interns on the resume. He also directed a few episodes of the series Stranger Things. Recently, he chaired two productions with Ryan Reynolds: Free Guy and Adam through time. Deadpool 3 will therefore mark the third collaboration between the two men. This third opus does not yet have a release date but Ryan Reynolds has made no secret of his enthusiasm for working with Shawn Levy again as evidenced by this Twitter post with the caption:
The third film in my trilogy with Shawn Levy will be sharper.
