Did you miss the DC Fandome 2021 which took place on October 16? Don’t panic, Allociné offers you a little summary of what you shouldn’t miss.
Unlike the previous edition where fans had stocked up on unseen images, this Fandome 2021 was more timid in reveal. The edition ended with the trailer for The Batman, a new iteration of the batman, this time played by Robert Pattinson. An appetizer that seems to have put everyone in agreement.
But before that, DC unveiled a first electrifying extract from Black Adam, the supervillain played by Dwayne Johnson. A long-standing project carried by the actor and which should land next summer in cinemas. Warning the eyes.
If there’s one movie we’ve been waiting for a long time, it’s The Flash. Ezra Miller was FINALLY able to present the first images of his spin-off film (not without making a little joke in the process). On the program, a new costume, twice as many Barry Allen and the return of an iconic Batman. It was worth the wait.
On the other hand, it will be necessary to show a little patience before discovering the trailers of Aquaman 2 and Shazam 2 since only featurettes were released during the event. The fans were however able to glean some information.
We were able to discover the first images of Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren in supervillains in the continuation of the adventures of Billy Batson:
Special mention also to Batgirl, HBO TV movie that will follow the DC superheroine played by Leslie Grace. Filming led by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys 3) is expected to begin shortly. A first concept art has been unveiled:
Series and renewals
As for the series, the announcements were a little weaker as well. The highlight of the evening was the panel dedicated to former Suicide Squad member Peacemaker. A good part of the cast as well as showrunner James Gunn were there to present the spin-off series and unveil the first trailer. With a John Cena in great shape.
DC has also announced the renewal of two HBO Max series: Titans and Doom Patrol which each offer a season 4. In parallel, a first teaser of season 3 of Pennyworth has been posted:
But also: discover the trailer for Batwoman season 3 as well as an extract of Naomi, a new super-heroic series by showrunner Ava DuVernay. The latter works in parallel on DMZ, still for DC. Rosario Dawson is the headliner.
DC has donated a good chunk of its 2021 Fandome to its animated films and series. And some of the projects announced are very attractive, like the new Milestone Media project in development. Not much is known about this feature film other than that it will be written by Brandon Thomas (Aquaman):
Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves, producers of HBO Max’s Batman: Caped Crusader animated series, also came to say a few words about their project. If we are to believe the three men, we will find a batman completely alone in his quest against crime.
It will be a “incredibly complex psychological story”. Unfortunately, we will have to wait before discovering the first images …
