Available since August 12 on Netflix, “Day Shift” continues to be a hit on the streaming platform. A little gem of originality that offers us a dusted-off vision of vampires. And for good reason ! Never before had we seen creatures of the night contort like this. A winning bet coupled with a brand new jargon that appealed to the greatest number.
A myth revisited
For a first feature film, director JJ Perry hit hard by offering us an offbeat vampiric plot. The Horror Comedy Day-Shift introduces us to Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx), a divorced family man who will do anything to get his family back. Our man has a week to pay for his daughter’s braces and school fees. Otherwise she and her ex-wife will leave California. Fortunately, his job as a swimming pool specialist hides a completely different reality. A much more lucrative profession that he exercises in secret…
That of solo vampire hunter, since he was put in the closet for overzealousness. The older the eliminated creature, the more tickets its sharp canines bring. In his quest to pull teeth, Jablonski is assisted by Seth (Dave Franco). The accountant of the International Syndicate of Vampire Hunters has no choice but to watch him closely. Disarticulated Vampires

The streaming platform currently has no not announced the possibility of a sequel. However, hope is allowed knowing that Big John is not dead. Or rather if, knowing that he was probably bitten in the tunnel while playing the hero. He would thus have mutated since we discover him coming out of a manhole and lighting a joint during the final scene, throwing in passing:

Seth having also been bitten but proving himself capable of not attacking Jablonski, we can well imagine the two men teaming up again.
