Netflix has announced the April 8 premiere date for the fifth season of Elite. A cross between Riverdale and Euphoria, Netflix’s hit teen series Elite has wowed audiences with scandal and drama for several years. The Spanish series first started in 2018 and followed the privileged youth of Las Encinas school after three scholarship students joined its ranks.
After the release of the fourth season, which brought new characters and new mysteries to the series, Netflix gave the 6th season approval to Elite last year. Where things left off, Elite is in flux once again. None of the core cast died this time around, but Guzmán (Miguel Bernardeau) accidentally killed old man Armando (Andres Velencoso), who was preying on season 4 newcomer Mencía (Martina Cariddi). As a result, Guzmán left Spain behind to see Europe with his best friend Ander (Aron Piper), who in turn had to break up with his girlfriend Omar (Omar Ayuso).
Netflix has officially announced Friday, April 8, for the fifth season of Elite. As usual for the broadcaster, all 8 episodes will be available to watch that day. Season 5 is rumored to kick off after Guzmán’s New Year’s Eve party where he killed Armando. The secret of Armando’s death threatens to spoil the budding romance between Samuel (Itzan Escamilla) and Ari (Carla Diaz).
Elite co-creator Carlos Montero said in a statement: “Elite is a universe I’ve always wanted to return to. As a creator and a viewer, this encourages me, relaxes me, and encourages me. Season five has been so great, so lively, that I know I’ll be coming back to it more than two and three times. It’s a feast for the senses. You’ll enjoy it.” Elite season 5 will see the addition of three new players: Bilal (Adam Nourou), Isadora (Valentina Zenere), and Iván (André Lamoglia).
