So there he is at last: The fact that Daredevil would appear in “She-Hulk” was confirmed long before the start of the MCU series with pictures, trailers and various interview statements, but Marvel fans actually had to wait seven episodes for the guest appearance . Now that Charlie Cox has finally made his comeback as attorney Matt Murdock (already in “Spider-Man: No Way Home’) and celebrated Daredevil, but the question remains: are we looking at the same character here as in the ‘Daredevil’ series, in which he first played the role?
Or the other way around: Are the events of the series part of the MCU canon? There is no definitive, official answer – and the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. As with the appearance of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), also known from “Daredevil”, in “Hawkeye” indicates however a lot point to a kind of soft rebootin which some elements are carried over from the original series, but others are ignored or changed.
Because depending on how you interpret it, you can find arguments for and against: Of course, Daredevil’s performance in She-Hulk is a lot less dark and violentand Matt Murdock himself less tortured and driven than in the “Daredevil” series, which was once on Netflix but is now also available on Disney+ (although there were humorous and less serious moments here and there).
And it is also clear: This Daredevil wears a different costume as the Daredevil from the Netflix series. That doesn’t have to mean anything, after all, in “She-Hulk” we only learn that Daredevil got some new suits from Luke Jacobson (Griffin Matthews). And Matt’s tailor from the Netflix series, Melvin Potter (Matt Gerald), has been in prison since “Daredevil” season 3 – a possible explanation for the tailor and costume change.

Either way certain clues in She-Hulk suggest that the MCU Daredevil at least has a similar history like the character from the Netflix series: For example, he tells Jen (Tatiana Maslany) that his office is in the New York district of Hell’s Kitchen and literally says: “We mainly take pro bono cases”.
The thing about the office and working without pay is definitely also known from the “Daredevil” series and the “we” could indicate that the MCU mate also with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) collaborates.
The iconic title theme from the Netflix series also sounds, after the fight between Jen and Matt is over and the name “Daredevil” is mentioned for the first time in “She-Hulk”. There was a similar case recently with “Ms. Marvel”, which also featured a certain theme in the finale.
So for the time being it’s a matter of waiting and seeing how exactly Daredevil and “Daredevil” fit into the MCU. There will probably be a binding answer in the new series “Daredevil: Born Again”which is due to appear on Disney+ in 2024 and will definitely be part of the Avengers-Universe will be.
