After playing a man who saw himself growing horns in Hornsea corpse in Swiss Army Man or an FBI agent posing as a white supremacist in Empire, Daniel Radcliffe continues his metamorphoses. The actor recently started shooting in Los Angeles for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, a feature film produced by the Roku streaming platform.
In this biopic, the actor, therefore, lends his features to the singer “Weird Al” Yankovic. Comedian and musician, this Californian artist is famous for his parodic covers of essential hits. In particular, he transformed beat it by Michael Jackson in Eat It, Gangsta’s Paradise from Coolio to Amish Paradise, Like a Virgin by Madonna in Like a Surgeon or Born This Way by Lady Gaga in Perform This Way. The singer has also made cameos in Is there a cop to save the queen?, agent zero as well as How I Met Your Mother always in his role.

Eric Appel, a director who has worked on series like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, or Silicon Valley, is directing this project based on a screenplay he co-wrote with “Weird Al” Yankovic himself. For the moment, the rest of the cast remains unknown, as well as the release date.

The actor appears today unrecognizable in photos taken on the set of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Dressed in a wig of long curly hair and a mustache, sporting a shirt with a military camouflage and a pair of Vans on which appears the famous checkerboard, the actor has transformed. The corridors and uniforms of Hogwarts seem light years away!
When announcing the project, “Weird Al” Yankovic expressed his pride and joy at being portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe. The singer thus declared, quoted by Today :
I am absolutely delighted that Daniel Radcliffe plays me in the film. I have no doubt that this is the role for which future generations will remember him.
