Adaptation of successful novels
Coming straight from Denmark, this new detective series is taken from the collection of novels written by Anna Grue, the Danish author of the most widely read thriller in the country, who has gained worldwide notoriety thanks to this adaptation.
Lolita Bellstar, creator of Dan Sommerdahl’s Investigations, has nevertheless made some alterations to the original material. The love triangle between Dan (camped by Peter Mygind, who we saw in Borgen), his wife Marianne (Laura Drasbæk) and his teammate Flemming (André Babikian) has thus undergone some changes, and this time takes place within the police station, suggesting funny situations since the three will have to put their problems aside to combine their forces in order to investigate.
The business also differs from the original work. Lolita Bellstar wanted the series to be less black than the Danish thrillers that we are used to watching. So no more horrible and gory murders, make way for joy and hope.
Dan Sommerdahl’s Investigations is a classic cop whose strength lies in the breakdown of the Sommerdahl’s marriage, and the three protagonists’ ability to put their personal chaos aside to solve crimes. A perfect series therefore for fans of the genre who are looking for a new lease of life.
