Did Leonardo DiCaprio find his new project after filming in the latest Martin Scorsese? The Oscar-winning actor is said to be in negotiations to play Jim Jones, a formidable guru who raged in the 1970s.

Leonardo DiCaprio, who has just finished filming Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, has he found a new role to match him?
According to Deadline, the Oscar-winning comedian for The Revenant is in advanced talks to camp Jim Jones, the relentless guru of the People’s Temple sect. The latter organized a collective suicide on November 18, 1978, resulting in the death of 914 followers including 276 children.
The method used was absolutely chilling: ingestion of potassium cyanide or murder. This appalling drama is the greatest collective suicide in history.
The guru had established himself in Guyana, South America, managing to create Jonestown, a community of devotees ready to do anything to satisfy him. This mass suicide shocked the whole world and especially the United States, the country of origin of Jim Jones, raising a gigantic wave of emotion and indignation.

DiCaprio and Jim Jones
A film simply titled Jim Jones is therefore in preparation on the side of MGM, which is about to strike a big blow with the engagement of DiCaprio. The actor, known to immerse himself completely in his characters, would be perfect in the costume of this relentless and terrifying cult leader.
The feature film does not yet have a director. We just know that Scott Rosenberg wrote the screenplay.
In the meantime, find Leonardo in Don’t Look Up, on Netflix on December 24.
