“Escape The Field” throws its characters into a situation that is as mysterious as it is deadly and lets us watch as they try to escape. It doesn’t look all that original. Nevertheless, the trailer promises a lot of excitement.
The makers of the US indie production “Escape The Field” apparently used various elements from other popular titles in order to then – enriched with their own ideas – make a new film. Because the scenario and the story of the thriller suggest a mash-up of the “Cube” film series, the Netflix mega-hit “Squid Game” and the 2019 Stephen King thriller “In the Tall Grass”:
A group of complete strangers (Jordan Claire Robbins, Shane West, Theo Rossi, Julian Feder and Tahirah Sharif) wake up in a cornfield. They don’t know how they got there, nor how to get out of this place. Because no matter in which direction they go: There seems to be no exit.
However, each of them found a weapon (knife, pistol) or useful tool (matches, lantern, compass) next to them. It is unclear who they came from. But they are not impractical. Because the field is not only almost endless, but is also inhabited by a mysterious creature that wants to get at you…
Escape The Field will premiere in North America on May 6, 2022 in select theaters and as video-on-demand. There is currently no information available regarding a release in Germany.
Lots of series and streaming stars in “Escape The Field”
Escape The Field is directed, written and produced by Emerson Moore. Following his short film It Lives Below, this is the American’s feature-length directorial debut.
For the leading roles, Moore has been able to engage some well-known faces from the world of TV series. This is how the trailer and film start with the character of Jordan Claire Robbins, who should be familiar to Netflix subscribers because of her regular role as Grace in “The Umbrella Academy”. She also starred in the sci-fi thriller Anon alongside Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried.
Joining Robbins are Sons Of Anarchy and Marvel’s Luke Cage star Theo Rossi, Nikita’s Shane West, Salem and Emergency Room’s Shane West, Bly Manor’s Tahirah Sharif and The “A Christmas Prince” series and Elena Juatco from the Canadian comedy series “Jann”.
