Netflix will offer this Friday, January 14 the film “Creed II”, sequel to the “Rocky” saga, centered on the adventures of Adonis Creed marked by the great return of a former opponent of Rocky Balboa.
We could have credited Creed 2 with the “Rematch” subtitle, if it wasn’t already a movie starring Sylvester Stallone. In the second spin-off of the famous Rocky saga, the Italian stallion – who has become the trainer of Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) – indeed crosses paths with a former adversary: Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the main villain of the movie Rocky IV.
If Stallone and Lundgren had already seen each other again on the occasion of the Expendables trilogy, their characters in Rocky had not appeared in the same film for 33 years! Their reunion did not, however, give rise to a boxing match (Rocky no longer being able to fight), but never mind since Adonis also has a score to settle with Drago, the assassin. of his father Apollo Creed.
Retired from the boxing world since his defeat against Balboa, Ivan has placed all his hopes for a comeback on his own son Viktor Drago (played by the real Romanian boxer Florian Munteanu). The spiritual son of Balboa against the child of Dragon’s blood: this is the poster for this extraordinary return match! This second part of the saga Creed therefore multiplies the narrative stakes and confirms Michael B. Jordan as a worthy heir to Sylvester Stallone.
Taking over from Ryan Coogler, filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. (director of the next Transformers) directed the film, while Sylvester Stallone was expected to direct the film himself. Both a direct sequel to Creed but also to Rocky IV, Creed 2 is available now in the Netflix catalog.
Note that Creed 3 will soon start filming under the direction of Michael B. Jordan (making his directorial debut on this occasion). Rocky Balboa will not appear in the film, however, Stallone having felt that it is now time for Adonis to strike out on his own. It must be said that the latter is already very busy, with in particular the writing of a prequel series, devoted to the youth of Balbao but also of Adrian and his brother Paulie.
