We take a look into the future of “House Of The Dragon” and of course that doesn’t go without it book spoilers to the templates by George RR Martin. It is about a certain Gaemon Palehair / Hellhaar, one of Aegon’s II (Tom Glynn-Carney) many bastards. And it could very well be that Gaemon Palehair that we saw in Episode 9 of House Of The Dragon – because he’s going to be important in the Targaryen story!
In Episode 9 of “House Of The Dragon,” brothers Arryk (Luke Titsor) and Erryk Cargyll (Elliott Titsor) go to the slums of King’s Landing in search of Aegon Targaryen, who has once again stolen from the palace for his pleasures to pursue This also includes betting on street children who fight each other with sharpened teeth and nails (this is taken from Martins’ book, by the way). In one such battle arena, Erryk draws his twin brother’s attention to a small, Targaryen-blonde boy: he is said to be one of Aegon’s many bastards.
Gaemon Palehair is about four years old in George RR Martin’s Targaryen storyline when the civil war called “Dance of the Dragons” breaks out. That fits: The boy in the series could be about four years old and the civil war will break out now, after Aegon II was crowned king and Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) is also crowned in episode 10 on Dragonstone.

And it probably won’t be a coincidence that one of Aegon’s bastards was introduced to the series. Sure, Erryk wants to show his brother at this moment how depraved Aegon and the Greens are. But there could be much more behind it: Because if the blond boy really is Gaemon Palehair, then he will be important in the series – because he will lay claim to the Iron Throne.
Gaemon is the son of a prostitute named Essie, who claims he is Aegon’s son – and the boy’s white-blond hair supports her claim. During the course of the Civil War, the now-elderly Gaemon makes the claim of his parentage public, and many believe him because of his looks and Aegon’s frequent visits to the prostitutes of King’s Landing.
This is how Gaemon manages to garner thousands of followers who want to see him on the throne. They believe he will be a better king than the two warring Targaryen siblings who started the civil war. This epoch in the Targaryen Civil War, in which Gaemon and two other men in the capital had their supporters proclaim themselves as new monarchs, is called “Moon of the Three Kings”.
So after one of the next time jumps in the coming seasons of “House Of The Dragon” there could be a reunion with the boy from episode 9. First of all, season 1 comes to an end: on October 24, 2022 the tenth and so far last episode of “Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon“ to Sky and WOW (formerly Sky Ticket).
