The 47th edition of the César 2022 took place this Friday, February 25 on the Olympia stage. While the film “Lost Illusions” by Xavier Giannoli left as the big winner, it was one of the film’s actors, Xavier Dolan, who paid a moving tribute to his friend Gaspard Ulliel, whom he had directed in “Juste la fin du world” in 2016.

This Friday, February 25, was the great celebration of French cinema. Indeed, the 47th Cesar ceremony took place at the Olympia and was crowned the best film of the year 2021. Among the big winners of this evening, we can mention lost illusions by Xavier Giannoli, who walked away with the best film statuette and six other awards. But also Annette of Leos Carax, who won five.

But this ceremony was also placed under the sign of emotion, since it was dedicated to actor Gaspard Ulliel, who died tragically on January 19 following a skiing accident.
To pay tribute to him, it’s Xavier Dolan (nominated in a best supporting role for lost illusions) who read a heartbreaking letter addressed to his family.
The Quebec director and actor were very close to the actor after directing him Just the end of the world in 2016. For his performance, Gaspard Ulliel had also received the César for best actor in 2017.
Always very affected by the sudden disappearance of his friend, Xavier Dolan could not hold back his tears.
