After season 9, which ended this evening on a formidable suspense, “Candice Renoir” will return to France 2 for a season 10 which will be the last before the series is made into TV movies. Will we have to wait until 2023 to find out?
Returning to the air at the start of January, after an interruption last September after only six episodes, Candice Renoir’s new season 9, still led by Cécile Bois and Raphaël Lenglet, ends this evening on France 2 at the end of an extremely breathtaking finale.
Entitled “Better to be envied than pitied”, the last episode of season 9 indeed ends on a shock cliffhanger which sees many characters, including Candice, Antoine, Ismaël (Christophe Ntakabanyura), Mehdi (Ali Marhyar), Valentine ( Yeelem Jappain), and Captain Pénélope Valier (Maëlle Mietton), being threatened with a weapon by Brigadier Olivier Monge.
In the last seconds, two shots are fired without the outcome of this drama being known. Was Monge shot? Or did he finally have time to shoot one of Candice Renoir’s heroes? And above all, will one of the characters die? To find out, you will have to wait until season 10, which is already in the box.
When can we expect to see season 10 on the air?
A few weeks ago, Anne Holmes, director of fiction at France Télévisions, confirmed to Le Parisien that season 10 of Candice Renoir, shortened to six episodes compared to ten in previous years, would be the last.
However, there is no question of putting an end to the adventures of the investigator camped by Cécile Bois since the series will continue in the form of unitary films (or “telefilms”), like series like Alex Hugo, Le Voyageur, or César Wagner, which only offer a few 90-minute episodes per year. With a programming certainly more event-driven even in this specific case since only two special episodes are currently in writing.
According to statements by Cécile Bois to Télé Star, the first single will be shot during the first half of 2022, and “all characters will be brought back”, while the season 10 finale “will justify this format change”. With an expected broadcast in 2023 for this first episode of Candice Renoir’s new version.
And what about season 10, which wrapped filming in early December? According to Le Parisien, this final batch will be broadcast “in spring” on France 2, without further details. Contacted by us, the channel said it was still too early to confirm anything.
But the previous seasons having generally been launched in April or May (with the exception of the ninth arrival on the air at the end of August 2021), it seems rather logical to count on a broadcast before the summer. Or at the latest in September 2022, if the channel wants to make this season 10 a real event.
Before the unitaries and the crossover with Alex Hugo, which has also been confirmed and should be shot before the end of the year. In short, Candice Renoir still has a bright future ahead of her.
