Call of Duty: no new game in 2023, Activision would have an alternative

In the absence of a full CoD game for next year, the publisher would prepare a surprise to make Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 last in order to fill the void and monetize it longer.

Who will succeed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2? Nobody ! A persistent rumor specifies Activision’s plans to remedy this.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 would have an extension in 2023

According to journalist Jason Schreier, you can give up on a Call of Duty game in 2023. An absence that would mark the end of the long-requested annual Call of Duty. Following this scoop, Activision had declared to have premium experiences, including paid, and free-to-play (free) for 2022, 2023 and later.

We are planning several exciting premium and free-to-play experiences for this year, next and beyond. All other information is incorrect. We look forward to sharing more details when the time is right.

We can already classify Modern Warfare 2 in the Premium category and Warzone 2 in that of the free game. But previously, Activision clearly mentioned “premium paid content” next year. According to Tom Hendersonthis DLC would serve to keep sales afloat throughout 2023 through the first half of 2024.

The rest is unclear, but this paid premium content, which would be available for the title’s second year of life, would have a “Greatest Hits” map pack. Almost all of the maps in CoD: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) would be remastered and it would be a staple part of the DLC.
