Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will soon put football in the spotlight with a temporary game mode halfway between FIFA 23 and Rocket League. Activision had vaguely talked about it in a recent article around its season 1, and the dataminers ended up discovering the pot of roses.
Modern Warfare 2 plays FIFA and Rocket League
Whereas Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 have just entered their very first season, the game files hinted at a certain “CODBall” mode. Temporary, this event will be there to celebrate the FIFA World Cup which will take place in Qatar from November 20th.
On this occasion, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will allow players to unlock operators with the traits of famous footballers, stars of FIFA 23like Messi, Pogba or Neymar Jr.
With its event called “Modern Warfare FC”, Call of Duty will therefore offer itself a CODBall mode which, according to information unearthed by the dataminer CODSploitzlmgz, would be similar to a Rocket League. Players would then drive ATVs (the armored vehicle, not the bike) into an arena similar to a soccer stadium. The objective is to send the ball into the opposing goal of course. If the visuals extracted from the game mode have, for the time being, taken a hit from the DMCA, we should not be long in having an official trailer since Activision has already dated its event to November 21, exactly when the FIFA World Cup starts.
On the other hand, this game mode does not seem to be integrated into Warzone 2 and should therefore only concern owners of Modern Warfare 2. At first glance, battle royale players will have to content themselves with gutting each other online without touching the ball. But with all the new things in place, they shouldn’t be bored.
