The trailer for Britney vs Spears, Netflix’s new documentary about the pop singer, promises shocking revelations about the legal battle she is waging against her guardianship.
After Framing Britney Spears, available on Prime Video in France, it’s Netflix’s turn to release its documentary on the pop singer, at the heart of a huge legal battle against her own father Jamie Spears to end her tutelage.
The platform has unveiled a first teaser in which we hear Britney Spears leave a message on the answering machine of his lawyer in 2009 and now publishes a shock trailer of this new documentary which promises shattering revelations.
Directed by Erin Lee Carr (How To Fix A Drug Scandal, Au cœur de l’or), Britney Vs. Spears, which had been in development for a year, will mostly focus on the period from 2008 to the present day, during which the singer pop was under the abusive tutelage of his father. For 13 years, the personal life, career and fortune of Britney Spears have been managed and controlled by Jamie Spears.
The mobilization of fans of the singer, grouped behind the #FreeBritney movement, has increased in recent years, and especially in recent months, with the documentary Framing Britney Spears instigated by the New York Times and the new twists in the legal battle to end the guardianship.
Throughout the summer of 2021, the singer has done everything to find her freedom and she should soon see the end of the tunnel. Her father finally accepted her request and officially began legal proceedings to end the measure weighing on Britney Spears a few weeks ago.
Britney Vs. Spears will be available on Netflix on September 28, the day before the singer’s next guardianship hearing. It is not known if the star has agreed to this documentary but it is highly unlikely that she will appear in it.
