After “Framing Britney Spears” (available on Prime Video), Netflix will soon unveil its documentary on the singer. Entitled “Britney VS Spears” it is revealed today with a first trailer.
Britney Spears the center of attention
Since 1998 and the release of Baby One More Time, the whole world is passionate about Britney Spears. She has sold millions of albums, released countless hits, and her private life is in the tabloids.
But since 2019, his name has been associated with a legal term: curatorship. Indeed, for many years, the singer was under the tutelage of her father, Jamie Spears. The latter claimed that she was mentally ill which prevented him from having clear ideas. He therefore managed his daughter’s fortune as he saw fit, and all aspects of her life. In particular, she was interned on several occasions, against her will.
But since 2019, tongues untied, and Jamie Spears was charged with manipulating Britney Spears. The latter would indeed have been under his control for many years. Last August, after a trial, he finally agreed to relinquish his status as guardian.
Netflix documentary unveils itself
After a first documentary, Framing Britney Spears, available on Prime Video, it’s Netflix’s turn to tackle the phenomenon. Like the latter, Britney VS Spears, will be interested in the legal battle between the singer and her father.
Thanks to exclusive interviews and confidential documents, this film will retrace the trajectory of the star in his desire for freedom. According to information released by Netflix, it will reveal key elements of Britney’s life, without resorting to degrading images that we know.
Director Erin Lee Carr (How To Fix A Drug Scandal, Dirty Money) and journalist Jenny Eliscu have gone back 13 years to get back to the basics of this curatorship. The documentary will shed new light on this affair which has agitated the media for several months.
Britney VS Spears will be available on Netflix September 28.
